Americana? Traditional? Rockin' Grass? Bluegrass? Old-Time? Newgrass? Stringband? Jamband? Hillbilly?
Call it what you will.
We call it TrueGrass!
We're very sorry to say that our show tonight (Sat Apr 14) at Thirsty Pagan Brewing in Superior is cancelled. The newly updated (3pm) forecast has been increased to a blizzard warning with driving conditions to be "difficult or impossible." Better that everyone stay safe at home. We hope we can re-schedule for another time. Please accept our apologies if you were making plans to be there.
The TrueGrass Band specializes in reviving the music of the old-time masters, adapting modern material to the bluegrass idiom, and creating new original songs and tunes in the traditional stringband style.
All veterans of the Lake Superior Big Top Chautuaqua, with over 120 years of combined professional performing experience, they take a traditional music recipe, add a pinch of influence from rock, blues, jazz, gospel, Irish, and Celtic, plus the spice of experienced showmanship, to cook up a steady diet of fun on and off stage.
The TrueGrass Band features Tom Draughon (guitar & vocals) from Ashland WI, Bruce Qualey (bass & vocals) from Cable WI, and Jed Malischke (banjo, resophonic guitar & vocals) from Spooner WI.
They are joined on occasion by Liesel Wilson (fiddle & vocals) from Duluth MN and Molly Otis (fiddle, mandolin & vocals) from Bayfield WI. They perform together and in various sub-configurations throughout Northwest Wisconsin and the surrounding four state area.
Whether you have a small venue or large concert hall, a one act show or a multi band festival, TrueGrass can help you organize, promote, and stage manage your event.
